Divan van den Heever

Divan started golf as a six year old, after his dad took him out to the Pietersburg Golf Club. His golf as a junior quickly began to take shape, and he went on to represent Gauteng North, Boland and Western Province at junior interprovincials. At the age of 18, he was selected for the Far North team and represented them at the senior interprovincial. He also made the top 32 at the SA Amateur that same year, and subsequently decided to turn pro in 2001. His first few years on tour were a bit of a struggle, but his perseverance paid off as he won his first title as a professional in 2004 - the Bearingman Highveld Classic. In 2006, he produced some very consistent golf, with numerous top 10 finishes eventually securing a 51st place finish on the order of merit. Since then, his career has blossomed, and he has emerged as one of the most successful professionals on the Sunshine Tour with nearly R2 million in career prize money and more than 20 top 10s. He is now coached by fellow Sunshine Tour professional Hendrik Buhrmann, and harbours aspirations of playing Augusta one day. Divan is also a professional hunter in his time away from golf, and loves to go on holidays into the African bush. He is also a massive fan of braaivleis, and listens to music of any sort.
